Well, how frustrating. Last night and it proceeded to go directly into slim air and never got posted at all I composed a complete blog. I am NOT getting the hang of this, I guess. I suppose this one should go POOF! Well, I’ll give it one more try. Aol won’t let me cut and paste stuff into internet sites, who understands why?
You’re probably wondering why I stick to Aol? Everyone knows it isn’t a “real” ISP. I do it because there seem to be hordes of aspiring writers on All who wander into the writer chatrooms and post on the community forums, questioning how much they ought to pay a Realtor. Or how much it’s normal to pay a publisher.
Anyway, I’ll try again with the Kelly O’Donnell saga. About this time, I experienced Kim, from the Writer’s Connection. Kim had been scammed a couple of times and was driven to fight back against scammers. What a brave woman! All on her behalf own, she’d put together a data source of scam creators and publishers. Kim was the one who told me about the Deering Literary Agency, and Sovereign Publishing. I began looking at them out, too, plus they were every bit as bogus as Kelly O’Donnell. Tipped off by Kim, I authorized to some community forums for writers who had understood the Deerings were scamming them, and who had banded to exchange information and offer emotional support to one another together.
These poor writers had hired Dorothy Deering of the Deering Literary Agency as their literary agent. Dorothy claimed to be the child of William Morrow, of the Morrow publishing empire. During this time Also, as I spoke to my hubby about what I was discovering about all of this, he explained that he thought an article should be written by me on my findings for the SFWA Bulletin.

I identified to do exactly that. 1. The true number of Deering victims showing up on the community forums got produced to dozens of authors. I started posting with their group, urging these get in touch with both constant state police and Federal government police. The FBI was known by me covered white collar crime, and these scams were certainly criminal!
2. Kim of the Write Connection encountered Professor Jim Fisher of Edinboro University in Pennsylvania. Jim was a previous FBI agent who taught criminology classes at the University. He had become thinking about the problem posed by writing scams when one of his friends was scammed. Jim Fisher had a database of scuzzy agents and publishers also and had developed guidelines called “The Fisher Scale” to measure the legitimacy of a Realtor. I learned a lot from both Kim and Jim Fisher. 3. I uncovered that my pal Brenda Clough was also researching writing scams at the demand of the SFWA Bulletin editor.
We made a decision to combine makes and execute a group of articles for the Bulletin. 4. I found out that another SFWA member, Victoria Strauss, experienced a niche site called Writer Beware, because she, too, had realized that writing scams were proliferating at an alarming rate. Okay, so now let’s see if this post, too, will vanish into the ether, or whether it shall turn up on my blog. I did so cut and paste it so a copy was held by me.
